Project: GP Surgery - Foleshill

A regular client was looking for a full turnkey solution for a new GP surgery to serve 10,000 local residents to meet current and future needs.

The client wanted the exterior of the new building to be a contemporary design which included a mix of brick, cladding and render to integrate with the local character and community.

The works included the construction foundations for a permanent modular building to achieve a Passivhaus status (a building created to rigorous energy efficient design standards so that they maintain an almost constant temperature).

Land for development

The groundworks included the foul and storm drainage for the modular building along with the connection of the mains power and water. The foundations made allowance for a lift shaft so a lift could be installed.

Groundworks underway & Main Isoquick Installation

Isoquick is a thermally resistant and robust material which is water resistant. Its based on the concept of raft foundations using a semi-rigid foundation slab. The simple geometry makes it the optimum insulation and provides robust structural results. This concept dispenses with the need for complex concrete frost skirts, edge thickenings or strip foundations.

This system enables a diverse range of insulation and concrete profiles. The modules are prefabricated individually and then joined together seamlessly on the construction site to virtually eliminate waste.

Once installed, reinforcement mesh was laid and the concrete pour took place together with pad foundations.
