Project: Umbrella
Everyone at Industrial Contracting Services Ltd is proud of our long standing relationship with Ann and the team at the Umbrella Charity in Derby.
Umbrella supports families living in Derby City and Derbyshire providing a range of exciting activities. Most services in Derbyshire are provided in Amber Valley, Erewash, Derby City, South Derbyshire and South Derbyshire Dales.

Late in 2019 Ann contacted Paul at Industrial Contracting Services Ltd to discuss the possibility of the Umbrella Charity taking on the lease of the old Rykneld Community Centre in Derby and repurposing it as an additional space for
Umbrella to expand their services into and increase the number of people they are able to help.
The project to refurbish a relatively large building which had been used as various things and generally unloved for quite some time was much larger than anything Umbrella and Industrial Contracting Services Ltd had embarked upon
Together before but Industrial Contracting Services Ltd were able to offer their services to engage with Indigo Architecture https://indigo-architecture.co.uk/ and design as well as manage the project.
Industrial Contracting Services Ltd were also able to provide all of their own skilled and semi skilled operatives to carry out the majority of the builders work for free with Umbrella paying for the materials only.
Many of Industrial Contracting Services Ltd existing sub contractors and suppliers including Chris and the team at Indigo Architecture were only too happy to offer their services, most of which were free or at significantly reduced rates.
This coupled with some additional funding and generous donations meant that Ann and the team at Umbrella were able to get all of the work done they needed to within one programme rather than their original objective which was
just to get the bare essentials done to make the building useable.
There were some interesting challenges along the way posed primarily by COVID-19 and limitations on materials supply, especially in spring and simmer of 2020 but we are pleased to say that the project was completed in October 2020 and Ann and the team at Umbrella were able to move in that month.
The refurbished premisses have been named the Annie Hall Centre and will be affectionately known as Annie’s Place in honour of Annie Hall who was a long time Trustee and generous supporter of the Umbrella Charity and their work.
Mrs Hall tragically lost her life in the floods of 2019.
